Latest Moot Court News

Our team did extraordinarily well at the Wechsler First Amendment Moot Court Competition in DC. We advanced to the quarterfinals, which put us in the top 8 teams in the entire competition. There were 27 laws schools from across the country participating. Judges called our team’s command of case law “spectacular” and we left everyone there with a great impression of CSL and the quality of education we provide to our students. The team consisted of Erin Wilson and Taylor Norman, and Ashley London served as their coach.

This victory comes on the heels of our advancement to the octofinals at the Emory Civil Rights & Liberties Moot Court Competition at Emory two weeks ago. This put our team in the top 50% of all competitors participating. Torian Giles (an evening student) and Stacey Cargile were coached by alum Cassidy Estes-Rogers and they were complimented by their judges as well. Both of these teams experienced great success and represented CSL on a national level in a more-than favorable light. We defeated well-known law schools at both competitions.

This marks our team’s most successful semester in over two years. Both teams we sent to external competitions advanced. Soon we will host our upper-level intra-school competition and we already have more than 20 competitors who have turned in their writing samples and faculty recommendations.

We are looking forward to growing our team!
