This guide will introduce you to various Internet resources to assist you in your legal research, from the federal to the state to the local level.  

Click the tabs above to learn more about specific resources relating to state and federal statutes, scientific and medical resources, government agencies and regulations, licensing boards and commissions, using federal statistics and making FOIA requests.

While a majority of this guide focuses on federal resources, there has been inclusion of North Carolina resources whenever possible.  Additional print resources are recommended, in some cases.

General Government Resources

    Contains bibliographic information for federal documents cataloged by the Government Printing Office from 1976 to present.

    GPO Access and FDsys databases contain the full text of some of the most frequently used government information sources. Provided by the Government Printing Office.

    Legislative information from the Library of Congress.

    Provides links to many useful government web sites.
  • WhiteHouse.gov  Icon  Icon
    WhiteHouse.gov is the official web site for the White House and President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. This site is a source for information about the President, White House news and policies, White House history, and the federal government.
