Evaluating Resources

Have you ever found an app and thought "should I use this?"  Well, here are a few guidelines to see if the app you found is a worth using for research.

Check the date.

  • How current is it?
  • Is it possible the law or fact changed since then?

Check the author/corporation.

  • What are the author's affiliations?
  • If it's a corporation, what is the corporation's interest in the subject?
  • What other apps has the company developed?

Where to Find Legal Apps

A search for legal research apps in Google brings back over 97 million results! It is easier to search for apps you may want by name (such as FastCase) rather than search in general for apps. Other sources for apps we use are:

Other Law Schools' LibGuides

UF Android Apps

UF iPad Apps

UCLA Mobile Applications for Law Students and Lawyers
